By reprocessing the event, you may see a reduction in your intense emotional responses making the memory of the event less distressing and intrusive. The goal is to have greater emotional regulation and a stronger sense of calm and control.

EMDR is a great therapeutic treatment to address postpartum trauma, depression, anxiety, and distress. It differs from typical talk therapy as it requires less verbalization of the details of your experience and more work targeting your body’s nervous system. It also includes mindfulness, meditation, and breath work to develop a deeper sense of body awareness.

  • What is a Good Faith Estimate?

    The No Surprises Act

The No Surprises Act, which went into effect on January 1, 2022, is a federal law designed to protect patients from unexpected medical bills, particularly those stemming from out-of-network care.  Under this law health providers are required to give clients a Good Faith Estimate which outlines expected costs for care.  This is intended to provide clients transparency, promote fairness, and reduce the financial burden of healthcare costs.

If you are billed for more than the Good Faith Estimate, then you have the right to dispute the bill. You may contact your provider to advise that your billed charges are higher than the Good Faith Estimate. You may request to update the bill to match the Good Faith Estimate, ask to negotiate the bill, or request a sliding fee scale.

A client-provider dispute resolution process is now available through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for uninsured (or self-pay) consumers who get a bill from a provider that’s at least $400 more than the expected charges on the good faith estimate. For more information, go to: https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises/providers-payment-resolution-with-patients.

  • A client may request a superbill after a session is complete.  A client would submit their superbill to their insurance company for review to determine reimbursement.  Depending on a client’s insurance policy, a client may receive reimbursement for some or all of the total costs. Please note however that it is not guaranteed.  It is also the responsibility of the client to handle the claim.
